DuBois, PA – Firefighters and kindergarteners came together Wednesday for a quick safety lesson and some treats!
Thanks to our friends at the JE DuBois Third Ward Hose Co who invited Juniata kindergarten classes to their fire station.
Third Ward Captain Leo Brooks talked with the kids about fire prevention, staying away from dangerous things like lighters, and what to do if there’s a fire.
Firefighter Derek Allen dressed up in the full gear to show kids that even though they might look and sound a little scary with the equipment, they’re there to help!
Kids were able to explore the fire truck, see what a firefighter looks like in full gear, and learn how they rescue people.
They were also sent home with some homework… kindergarteners need to learn their address, talk about an escape route with their grownups, and come up with a good meeting location outside their home if their family needs to evacuate.
Besides the homework, they were also given some fun treats and even a small fire helmet of their own.
