DUBOIS – An aging fire station may soon be replaced, and an entirely new one could be built as lawmakers look to use state grant funds ahead of a looming deadline.
The fire subcommittee recommended that the city use around $2 million dollars from the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, a grant that funds regional improvement projects, to be funneled to the fire companies to rebuild the Oklahoma fire station and build an entirely new North Point building at a currently unconfirmed location.
“So now that we have direction, we will go back and create preliminary plans, and submit a revised project management proposal for the state,“ explained Manager Ben Kafferlin.
With the funds needing to be used by early December, the new motion was unanimously voted by the Joint Board, with Supervisor Bill Beers being the only exception.
