Fire contained to one section of basement in Curwensville

Pike Township, PA – Fire crews worked hard Monday evening to contain a house fire to just one section of a basement near Curwensville, and ultimately they succeeded in saving the house from severe damage.

Curwensville’s Rescue Hose and Ladder team says they and other fire companies were called to a home along Schofield Street Extension in Pike Township yesterday around 9:30 p.m.

Crews made quick work of the fire in two rooms and damage was contained to just one section of the basement.

No other official reports are available yet.

***WORKING FIRE***
Monday evening at 21:27, Company 8 was dispatched for a structure fire along Schofield Street Extension in Pike Township. Engine Tanker 8-2, Rescue 8-2, and 853 all responded. 8-2 arrived on scene with smoke showing and Chief 8 assumed command. Crews pulled the bumper line to a basement door and shortly after confirmed a Working Fire. Crews made quick work of the fire in two rooms. Thanks to a quick response, the damage was able to be contained to one section of the basement and ultimately, the house saved.
Engine Tanker 8-2 arrived on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch.
Company 8 was assisted on scene by Engine Tanker 6, Engine 5, Engine Tanker 9, and Curwensville Borough Police. Tanker 30 was cancelled while enroute.
Company 8 operated on scene for an hour and a half before returning available.
