Fatal December crash ruled a DUI, Woodland man had been on controlled substance

Clearfield, PA – The December crash that took the life of a Curwensville man has been ruled as a DUI.

On Dec. 20, 2019, just before 7 a.m., 29-year-old Michael Rose from Woodland had been driving his pickup on Lumber City Highway.

He struck another truck head-on, driven by 30-year-old Nathaniel Canfield from Curwensville.

Canfield’s truck caught fire, and he died from his injuries at the scene.

Upon further investigation, it was found that Rose had been under the influence of a controlled substance at the time, causing the crash and Canfield’s death.

Rose has been charged with multiple felonies, including homicide by vehicle while DUI.

Rose is lodged in the Clearfield County Jail in lieu of $75,000 bail.
