Washington Twp. – A 37-year-old Erie man is in the Jefferson County Jail after allegedly breaking into a towing company’s lot to steal his impounded vehicle.

State Police say Kyle Lane crawled under a fence at the towing company along Route 219 in Washington Township and drove his car, a 2005 Pontiac, through the locked fence gate.

A short time later, police arrested Lane when his car became disabled due to a flat tire.

Lane’s vehicle had been impounded due to an unpaid towing bill.

He will now face charges of criminal trespass and criminal mischief in a preliminary hearing June 14th.
