Encouraging Careers Through Robotics Team

DUBOIS – The DuBois BEST Robotics team marked their best nationals performance since 2014 this year.

Finishing in 4th place at their game and 3rd overall, this year’s theme focused on space exploration. Each team had to create a robot designed to navigate rough “lunar” terrain while preparing for human habitation.

BEST, standing for Boosting Engineering Science and Technology, has been inspiring local youth, like Kaelyn Korb, to go into an engineering career field.

“I never thought about doing anything engineering related after high school,“ explained Korb. “But after BEST and VEX, it really interested me, and it persuaded me into my career choices for the future.”

This program has multiple aspects, from coding and building machines, to the marketing and advertising side, all of which is handled by over a dozen students.

BEST Robotics for the past 14 years and other programs like VEX Robotics, have turned an extracurricular activity into a life passion.
