
Ridgway – Elk County has reached a milestone in distributing grant money to municipalities and organizations.
The Elk County Commissioners announced that $1 million in Act 13 mini grants has been awarded since 2013.
The Act 13 program began in Pennsylvania in 2012, and Elk County was one of the first counties in the state to establish guidelines for how grant money should be distributed.
Qualifying Elk County applicants can receive up to $5,000 during each round of grant distributions.
The maximum amount of mini grant funds, which are awarded twice a year in Elk County, is being increased from $50,000 to $75,000.
