RIDGWAY – A new mountain bike trail will soon be developed within Elk County’s Sandy Beach Park.
The Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources and Lumber Heritage Region have approved the $50,000 Partnership Grant to help fund the project intended to combine recreation and heritage in Ridgway Township. Planners say the mountain bike trail system will enhance the area’s outdoor recreational opportunities while paying homage to the region’s rich lumber heritage.
Sandy Beach Park is located just west of Ridgway, and is already home to picnic pavilions, volleyball, baseball and softball fields, a playground, fishing, a dog park, and a disc golf course.
