RIDGWAY – Child endangerment and DUI charges have been filed against an Elk County man after he was allegedly found passed out and intoxicated with a child in his vehicle.
According to court documents, State Police arrested 44-year-old Richard Hyatt of Ridgway when they responded to a report of a child screaming outside a Laurel Mill Road residence.
At the scene, a neighbor told police she could see the young boy buckled in a car seat, and she heard him screaming for 25 minutes.
Hyatt was reportedly passed out in the driver’s seat.
Police say the child was not harmed, and he was safely given over into custody of the other parent.
Hyatt allegedly told police he was trying to have a good day with his son at the park, not realizing he was so heavily intoxicated.
Bail for Hyatt was set at $15,000.
