RIDGWAY — Elk County will soon have a Collections Enforcement Officer to help make sure that fines, costs, and other criminal case assessments are being paid.
The idea to create that new full-time position was proposed by Judge Shawn McMahon at the Elk County Salary Board’s December meeting, and the resolution was promptly approved and adopted.
McMahon said the new Collections Enforcement Officer would create more aggressiveness in pursuing the collection of money, and it would be a benefit to the county’s general fund.
Judge McMahon also pointed out that there are millions of dollars that are outstanding, so it will take some time to fill the position and get the enforcement aspect in motion.
