Elk County camp cabin fire investigated as possible arson

Elk County, PA – It’s still unclear what caused a fire that destroyed a camp cabin in Elk County recently, and the State Police Fire Marshal is investigating it as a possible arson.

A cabin caught fire at a campground along Pigs Ear Road in Highland Township (between Johnsonburg and Marienville) around 8 p.m. on June 30.

No one was at the cabin at the time of the fire, so there were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

The owner, a 29-year-old Beaver Falls man, does not have insurance on the camp.

The cause is still under investigation.
