Elk County camp cabin fire investigated as possible arson

Elk County, PA – It’s still unclear what caused a fire that destroyed a camp cabin in Elk County recently, and the State Police Fire Marshal is investigating it as a possible arson.

A cabin caught fire at a campground along Pigs Ear Road in Highland Township (between Johnsonburg and Marienville) around 8 p.m. on June 30.

No one was at the cabin at the time of the fire, so there were no injuries.

Damage is estimated at $50,000.

The owner, a 29-year-old Beaver Falls man, does not have insurance on the camp.

The cause is still under investigation.

If you know anything about it, please call the fire marshal at the Ridgway State Police barracks at 814-776-6136.
