CLEARFIELD – Starting today, you may encounter lane closures on Route 153 as preliminary work for an Elk County bridge replacement project is scheduled to begin.

According to PennDOT, the poorly rated, 52-year-old bridge which spans Toby Creek in Horton Township will be completely replaced this year.

The initial stage of the project involves clearing trees near the bridge and placing signs, and then a temporary roadway will be installed for the duration of the project. You may encounter brief delays and lane closures during daylight hours.

PennDOT says the project should be completed by late October.
