SYKESVILLE – One man is dead following a Sykesville house fire Monday.
At around 7:24am emergency crews responded to a South Park Street address, finding heavy smoke and flames coming from the home, with one person still stuck inside.
Crews were able to quickly beat back the blaze however, the Jefferson County Coroner confirmed that 71 year-old Eugene C. Cyphert Sr. died with cause of death pending further investigation.
The home was deemed a total loss as fire officials continue to investigate.
