Dubois Utility Bill Changes

DUBOIS – If you’ve opened your utility bill and noticed higher charges, you’re not alone. Many households in DuBois are seeing changes as consolidation takes effect.

City officials say new monthly “Debt Service” charges, $15 dollars for water and $20 dollars for sewer, are replacing older fees listed under different names.

With an aging water system that needs repairs and an $88 million dollar wastewater treatment plant now online, city leaders say these charges are needed to cover debt tied to those improvements.

Usage rates have also been equalized across the system, which means some are paying more now than before.

City officials acknowledge these changes may be frustrating, saying you have a right to ask what you’re paying for and why. They do ask you to be patient and review your bill carefully as these updates to keep water and sewer service reliable take effect.
