DUBOIS – The DuBois City Council approved the sale of 102 acres of timber along Anderson Creek Road.
As Consultant Kenneth Kane explains, the city held off putting this area to bid until Friday June 6th, waiting for the economy to stabilize.
“So we had six bids, which was extremely exciting to see,“ explained Kane. “But the quality of this timber brought everybody out wanting to buy it. Gutchess Lumber Company, the former Brookville Wood Products, was the highest bidder at $471,502 dollars. Which far exceeded my expectations for this timber sale.”
He also told us that this planned sale has been in the works for multiple years.
Now that the bid has been approved, Kane estimates it will take the lumber company around two years to clearcut the area.
