DUBOIS – Within a month, well ahead of consolidation, the City of DuBois and Sandy Township are hoping to have a manager and engineer cross-hired and working.
At Wednesday’s Consolidation Joint Board meeting, the plan was announced and approved to hire Shawn Arbaugh as DuBois City Manager, making him both the city and township manager. The cross-hiring plan also includes making Chris Nasuti, who currently serves as Interim City Manager, both the township and city engineer.
The Consolidation Joint Board voted unanimously in favor of this move, but each municipality must separately approve the decision.
Also at the meeting, the Joint Board voted to use the current city building as the municipal building for the consolidated City of DuBois.
The police department will be housed in the first and third floors while the second floor will be used for administrative staff. Renovations and expansion will allow for new offices and lockers.
The current Sandy Township municipal building will be used for long term storage and emergency management.
