DUBOIS – In this year’s Rotary Club community project, the non-profit worked alongside the Community Homesteaders 4H Club to build a greenhouse and planters to help feed the community.
Rotary Chair Jan Sparks says this is all part of the group’s 2024-2025 District Grant Project, where they wish to enhance our community through helping our area community/non-profit organizations.
“We’re trying to help them extend and continue their programming,“ explained Sparks. “These students are learning life skills, but they are also helping our community. All the produce that their raising is actually going to our DuBois Food Pantry.”
Last year Community Homesteaders delivered 1,548 vegetables from their community gardens.
The planters were fully constructed at Penn Central Door on May 4th.
