DUBOIS – The City of DuBois received over $11,000 dollars to go towards the City Park.
The check, written for $11,456.40 dollars, was presented to city officials Monday night by TURNaBOUT Boxing, Invictus, DuBois Live, and the DuBois Days Committee.
This was a result of the leftover funds from this year’s DuBois Days festival.
As a stipulation of receiving the funds, the groups asked it be put back into the park.
DuBois Councilman Elliot Gelfand believes that this initiative is great for everyone involved.
“I think people were really disappointed when the fire department announced that they were going to cancel community days for last summer and TURNaBOUT, and DuBois Live, and Invictus really stepped up and filled the void and put on a spectacular event,“ explained Councilman Gelfand. “It’s just the cherry on top to be able to get money coming back to the city to do a project in the park that will benefit the citizens.”
Future DuBois Days festivals are now hoping to include the city and township’s fire departments.
