DuBois Police Looking for New Gun Range

DUBOIS – The DuBois Police Department is looking to create a new gun range for our officers to train locally.

The department is eyeing a location of municipal owned property at Laurel Ridge off of DuBois Rockton Road.

According to DuBois/Sandy Township Police Chief Kris Kruzelak, this potential location would allow our officers to train in-house, ultimately saving the department time and money.

“We’ve been using different ranges throughout the years,“ explained Chief Kruzelak. “We’ve never had our own. So we don’t have to limit our training.”

Now, the department is moving forward on a feasibility study and get a real estimate at how much it would cost to pit in two pistol ranges, a rifle range, a possible storage space for training items, and natural noise dampeners if needed.
