DuBois parking shortage misconception continues

DUBOIS – Citizens raised concerns again over a lack of available parking in the downtown area. At Monday’s City Council meeting, Downtown DuBois Inc’s Executive Director Shirley Dahrouge referenced a summer 2023 study that indicated a suitable amount of parking was available to the community. Dahrouge clarified that the less-than-ideal proximity of parking spaces to downtown businesses and restaurants was largely to blame for the misconception.

Dahrouge also mentioned efforts to increase public awareness of existing parking locations by way of more visible directional signs as well as online search engine optimizations.

Also at last night’s meeting, council moved to utilize Keystone grant funds for the purchase and installation of air conditioning upgrades in the DuBois City Library.

The initiative has been approved by The Department of Community and Economic Development and will be completed at no cost to the City.
