DUBOIS — DuBois City Council voted against the sale of a parking lot on West Scribner Avenue after hearing from several downtown business owners.

Downtown DuBois Inc.’s Executive Director Shirley Dahrouge addressed Council members and those in attendance Monday on preserving the parking lot’s current use for citizens to support downtown businesses and restaurants. This came after several downtown businesses and organizations sent letters of concern to City Hall over the proposed sale.

Signatures from community members were also obtained in support of keeping the lot for downtown parking space.

Mayor Ed Walsh reminded all in attendance that a private entity had approached the Council about purchasing the parking lot and that Council was obligated to entertain bids before making any decision.
