DUBOIS – The DuBois Middle School is putting a stronger focus on keeping books in your child’s hands.

During an annual update on the MIddle School, Principal Tammy Cook said that students are performing well in math, beating state averages in every grade level. However, in English Language Arts, some scores are hovering closer to state averages, prompting a stronger push on reading.

“Just getting books in kids’ hands and that’s the expectation we’re going to read, that’s amazing to me,“ explained Cook.

These efforts include dedicated reading time during the day, book clubs, and giving students more access to books through a take home library being built, designed to give students a chance to pick out books of their own.
