DUBOIS – The DuBois City Council approved the fire department’s plan to sell three aging apparatus to fund new vehicles for department chiefs.

According to Fire Chief Joseph Mitchell, Old Engine 75, Rescue 74, and Engine 73-2 are expected to bring in around $100,000 dollars. This money will help cover the cost of two new chief vehicles.

So the department asked that we be allowed to utilize the funds that we had in our capital reserves from before to purchase two new chiefs vehicles and then hopefully the money that we get from selling the apparatus could go back and help offset those costs,” explained Chief Mitchell.

The sale is part of a larger effort to downsize outdated and duplicate equipment in the unified department.
