DuBois Finances Show Some Concerns

DUBOIS – A look into the City of DuBois’ finances revealed some spending concerns.

With major loans needing to be repaid later in the year, unexpected expenses, and inflation raising prices across the board, costs will be greater than income for the City of DuBois.

City Manager Lisa Hagberg explained to us, while an almost half a million deficit may look bad, in actuality the city is in a good spot.

“The city has had a long practice of moving funds around different accounts,“ explained Hagberg. “So we are just looking at how we can streamline those processes. So while the numbers do look overwhelming, we are watching every dollar.”

Ultimately, Hagberg believes that with a careful spending plan the city can be right on track. And while you will not see any immediate changes at home, once consolidation takes hold in 2026 some rates may go up.

Currently, officials have only looked at the city’s finances, the Township, tax structure, and future budget are still in the works.
