DUBOIS – The DuBois City Council is asking downtown business owners for feedback as the city explores whether a Business Improvement District could help support continued growth and revitalization.
A BID is a defined section where property owners would pay an additional assessment fee that would then go right back into projects and services chosen directly by the businesses and property owners.
“I know the City of DuBois is in a similar era of resurgence, especially as you’ve been rebuilding over the last 10-plus years,” explained Lisa Schaefer with Kafferlin Strategies. “New businesses are emerging downtown, restaurants are becoming popular, there are other new shops, but there are other additional improvements to make to keep that momentum going.”
Business owners at Wednesday’s meeting shared concerns over the added financial burden and asked for more specific details.
While no vote is being taken at this time, council is asking downtown business owners to reach out to the city’s management team to share whether a BID would meet their needs.
