DuBois Council Postpones Fire Station Rebuild Proposal

DUBOIS – A proposed step towards new fire stations is on hold after concerns from both the DuBois City Council and public.

For the past four years, fire officials have been working on plans for potential new or rebuilt buildings for Oklahoma and North Point fire stations with the proposal allowing the city to seek designs to better understand the costs.

“This does not commit us to the project at this point. This is solely a source of the architect to get an idea of what the initial cost will be,” explained Fire Chief Joe Mitchell.

Funding could include around $900,000 dollars in grant monies alongside other earmarked funds, with city officials saying they’re trying to avoid any impact on taxpayers.

Council ultimately tabled the vote to allow legal review and more discussion.
