DUBOIS – A formal complaint made by the City of DuBois Treasurer has sparked conflict, ultimately leading to a new office location in the council chambers.
Last week, DuBois Treasurer Lisa LaBrasca Becker filed a formal complaint against City Manager Shawn Arbaugh claiming recent allegations have made performing her duties as an elected official difficult.
She claims that her office was moved to a video recorded public space with no reasonable cause. She also claimed the negligible amount of space in her new working area would hinder her ability to effectively serve our area.
Current City Solicitor, Thomas Breth, says that the allegations in the formal complaint are false.
“Sadly her letter is yet another example of the city Treasurer’s willingness to mislead the public from the true issues facing the city of DuBois,” explained Breth. “Since January, this city council has worked diligently to address many of the issues brought to light by the criminal indictments filed against the former City Manager. Most of the city employees have worked cooperatively with city council. Unfortunately a few individuals have worked to undermine city council’s efforts to bring accountability, integrity, transparency, and true public service back to the City of DuBois. The city Treasurer is one of those individuals.”
He went on to say that the office was moved for transparency reasons and it will not affect how day-to-day operations are done.
City of DuBois Mayor, Patrick Reasinger, says the current council is focused on transparency.
“We do our best,“ stated Mayor Reasiner. “There’s so many things that come up, I can’t say we say everything about everything, but if somebody asks a question we sure answer it and we don’t hide anything.”
At the time of reporting we have reached out to the Treasurer for comment, but have yet to hear back.
