DUBOIS – With just under nine months until the City of DuBois and Sandy Township consolidate into one municipality, we look at the progression made.
Interim Co-Manager Ben Kafferlin told us that the city and township have been working on a slew of different consolidation tasks.
On top of that the municipal building’s renovations are still ongoing with the goal of including both city and township under one roof.
“Overall it’s on target,“ explained Kafferlin. “I am anticipating having the main area, the main street level so to speak, available hopefully in June.”
Below you can find a list of tasks the municipalities have been working on:
Meeting with the DCED and getting financial recommendations.
The Pennsylvania Economic League is working on the tax structure.
Continuing work to end the City of DuBois relationship with the Pennsylvania Utilities
Commission now that such a relationship is no longer required after January 1.
Ironing out the collective bargaining agreements with the dual municipalities.
Working on consolidating the dual municipalities banking accounts and what structure they will take once consolidated.
Work preparing for both the new city’s dealings with federal and Commonwealth of Pennsylvania tax agencies directly and their employees’ tax forms.
Consolidating the IT infrastructure, which includes the websites, email systems, networks, computer controlled doors, etc.
The land swap deal.
