DUBOIS – The Joint Consolidation Board has approved the 2026 City of DuBois Budget, including a tax increase.
The $12.7 million dollar general fund will call for a millage increase of three mills for DuBois residents and just over five mills for Sandy Township residents.
The vote passed with Beers and Aughenbaugh opposed, Jackson was not present. Some board members wanted to vote no, but voted in favor to keep the process moving.
“I found out if we don’t pass the budget, then we can’t open it back up,” explained Whitaker, “I want to be able to open it back up on January 5th and start to look at it again and see if there’s not some savings we can make in there to lower the millage.”
While the budget was approved, the new City Council has the opportunity to make revisions in early January.
