DUBOIS – Tuesday night’s DuBois City Council meeting included a motion to pay for legal fees incurred by current council members who were subpoenaed by the state’s grand jury.
Legal fees totaling more than $12,000 were approved for payment as the City continues to navigate ongoing legal proceedings against suspended City Manager Herm Suplizio.

The agenda item prompted several citizens in attendance to voice concerns over holding such a vote immediately before the usual public comments portion of the meeting.
2024 Budget and Tax Levy Approved
Council voted to approve the City of DuBois budget for 2024 after a second and final reading of its corresponding bill.
A tax levy known as Council Bill 1978 was also passed. The levy includes new assessments of the City’s General Fund, library maintenance, and Recreation Fund taxes.
A Call For Transparency
During the Public Comments section of the meeting, several DuBois citizens expressed concern over a lack of transparency from the current Council. Those in attendance asked the incoming Council to revise the standard meeting agenda and include a time for public comments before any voting on motions could take place.
Councilman and incoming Mayor Pat Reasinger stated that the order of these items on the agenda would be revised in the new year.
