SHARE NOW

DUBOIS – The City of DuBois’ employment of both former city manager John “Herm” Suplizio and former police chief Blaine Clark came to an end Monday night.

DuBois City Council voted 3-2 in favor of completing the firing process of both men.

DuBois Interim Solicitor Tom Breth noted that neither Suplizio or his legal counsel responded to the council’s offer of presenting a defense argument in a public hearing. Suplizio and former City of DuBois employee Bobbie Shaffer are currently facing federal charges related to the alleged theft of more than $500,000 of city funds.

The firing of Clark is based on a legal complaint filed against the former police chief which is currently being handled by the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office. Breth said no other details regarding the Clark case can be disclosed,.

Interim City Manager, soon to be City-Township Engineer, Chris Nasuti,  and City employee Bob Swope, asked the public to please be considerate to city employees in public. Both stated that  some members of the public have been confronting any city employee they can find over the bonuses situation, paid out during the years Suplizio was City Manager. Nasuti stated that the majority of city employees are hard workers doing the best job that they possibly can. He asked that the public please go easy on his coworkers.
