DuBois City Council explores additional pension committee, receives block grant

City Council To Explore Additional Pension Committee
 
DuBois City Council discussed the need for an ad hoc committee to review the non-uniform employee pension funds.
Councilman Pat Reasinger said the city’s Pension Committee unanimously moved to set the pension’s rate of return at 7.5 percent in an effort to provide stability to the fund.
Community Development Block Grant to Fund Waterline Project
 
The City of DuBois will receive a Community Development Block Grant of more than $308,000 from the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development.
The City will use the grant for a waterline replacement on Quarry Avenue. DuBois Redevelopment Authority Executive Director Joe Mitchell cited the importance of installing a larger water line to replace a smaller line at the location as a benefit to local fire department access in the event of an emergency.
Council Accepts Shaffer Resignation
 
City Council accepted the resignation of longtime Administrative Secretary Bobbie Shaffer at the conclusion of Monday night’s meeting.
Mayor Ed Walsh and Council members thanked Shaffer for her years of service and devotion to the City and wished her well in retirement.
