DuBois City Council appoints Volpe as interim controller

SHARE NOW

DuBois, PA – Many of the people filling seats on the DuBois City Council have shifted around over the past month after Randy Schmidt resigned as mayor, and one of the empty positions – controller – is now filled.

Former council member Ed Walsh now sits as interim mayor.

Shannon Gabriel, the former controller of Dubois City Council, has stepped into Walsh’s seat on council.

Because Gabriel had to leave her position as controller to fill Walsh’s seat, this left the controller position empty.

The controller oversees the City’s finances.

The DuBois City Council appointed David Volpe, a volunteer for the City of DuBois, as interim controller at last Thursday’s council work session.

For the municipal election in 2021, many DuBois City Council seats will be on the ballot. This includes the remaining two years for the mayor’s term, the remaining two years for Walsh’s council seat (now held by Gabriel), the remaining two years of Shane Dietz’ term (who is serving in Schmidt’s previous council seat after Schmidt had been sworn in as mayor), and the full 4-year term of the seat currently held by Jim Aughenbaugh. Because Gabriel had to leave her position as controller, the two remaining years of the controller’s term will also be on the ballot in 2021.
