DUBOIS – The City of DuBois is proposing their 2025 budget, showcasing no tax increase, but possible higher water and sewer rates.

City and Township Manager Shawn Arbaugh highlighted the thousands the city will be saving in expenses in 2025, including $212,000 dollars from a new insurance provider and $100,000 dollars for refinancing.

There will be some new costs, like $800,000 dollars for the new wastewater plant construction loan, and a possible increase in water and sewer rates.

It was suggested to raise those services by $1.75 per thousand gallons to bring the city closer to Sandy Township’s rates for when consolidation takes place.

Additionally Waste Management wishes to see higher rates for commercial customers, suggesting either a seven percent jump now, or two five percent jumps spanned over two years. This was not voted on, so the public had time to input their suggestions and thoughts.

Lawmakers will wait to move forward on the budget so you can fully understand and ask questions regarding the budget. The full 2025 draft budget can be found on the city’s website.
