SYKESVILLE – A wanted Jefferson County man has been charged with drug possession after his arrest in Sykesville.
According to court documents, 62-year-old Merlin Loomis Jr of Reynoldsville was wanted on an active Clearfield County warrant when he was seen leaving a gas station. A Sykesville Borough Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Loomis due to his motorcycle’s expired registration and inspection.
Loomis was transported to the Jefferson County Jail, and as he got out of the police car a small container was seen on the floor. Police allege there was 3.5 grams of methamphetamine in the container.
The preliminary hearing for Loomis on drug charges and traffic violations is scheduled for February 27th.
