Doolittle Station Unveils Caring Caboose

SHARE NOW

DUBOIS – Doolittle Station is unveiling a newly refurbished train car aimed to give your children a safe space to play.

The train car, dubbed the Caring Caboose, features a slew of activities aimed towards kids activities, in addition most of the children’s play things are sensory objects to help with anyone on the autism spectrum.

According to Owner of the Angry Goat and soon to be co-owner of Doolittle Station, Jon Cannella, the Caring Caboose like many of the facility’s attractions was the brainchild of Dr. Jeffery Rice, with the Caring Caboose in the works for the past several years.

“If you have an autistic child and he or she just has a difficult time in large crowds, that was a safe space for them where they can have their meal and enjoy some time with their families,“ explained Cannella. “After COVID we started to remodel that car, and our goal was to have it also be again for special needs kids, but elementary kids in general. If they wanted to come in there as a space where they could eat, they could play, we have some interactive games on the walls amd different things they can do to learn and have fun.”

While the Caring Caboose is not open yet, families will soon be able to rent the space, with hopes that one day the area will be open for a limited time daily.

This is a two part story, we will have more on other renovation projects and the future of Doolittle Station in another story later in the week.
