CLEARFIELD – A 39-year-old Clearfield County man is in jail facing felony strangulation charges after his alleged assault of a Curwensville woman during Thanksgiving weekend.

According to court documents, Jacob Montgomery of Curwensville is accused of pushing the victim against a wall, strangling her, and then pushing her down a staircase as the two argued about dirty dishes needing done.

Last week, Montgomery waived his right to a preliminary hearing, so his case will be sent to county court for further action. His bail was lowered by half from $100,000 to $50,000.

Montgomery is currently being held in the Clearfield County Jail.
