Counterfeit $100 bill used at Big Run business

SHARE NOW

Big Run, PA – Someone used a counterfeit $100 bill at a Big Run business recently.

The victim, a 61-year-old Punxsutawney woman, first noticed the fake bill on Aug. 13, but she says it could have been given to the business any time within the past two or three weeks.

State Police do not say which business was involved, just that it was on West Main Street in Big Run.

At first glance, the counterfeit bill looks like a real $100 bill.

Police are warning businesses to teach their employees how to spot fraudulent cash in all denominations, big and small. It can sometimes be very difficult to spot a fake bill.

When a counterfeit bill is detected, be sure to tell police as soon as possible. The longer you wait, the less likely it is that you will be able to identify the person who passed the fake money.
