DUBOIS/SANDY TOWNSHIP – The city’s mayoral position has been in heated debate recently on how the position will be elected, now the topic is being pushed until the New Year.
Over the past month discussions flared over whether the mayor’s position will be on the ballot, or selected within the newly formed council.
Now city and township Manager Ben Kafferlin says the consolidation agreement opted for a “Optional Plan Model” meaning that the board might not have a choice but to appoint the mayor from within.
He is currently awaiting a legal representative’s response before moving forward. To discuss the topic further, the Joint Board will be hosting a special meeting on January 6th.
The meeting will also hold discussions for salaries for council, mayor, and other city positions.
