DUBOIS – With the January 5th consolidation deadline drawing near, DuBois and Sandy Township are completing final preparations.
From onboarding newly elected council members, to streamlining operations, and wrapping up key administrative transitions, Interim Manager Ben Kafferlin says these final weeks are focused on coordination, training, and bringing together the unified municipality.
“You’ve already seen a lot of the benefits of consolidation because you only have one director, for instance, of every department at this point,” explained Kafferlin. “You’re already saving a lot on wages and just a lot of overhead that is no longer needed.”
Ultimately his work right now is to ensure the new government can lead the city forward from day one.
A search for a permanent city manager will begin in January.
