DUBOIS –  The Consolidation of the City of DuBois and Sandy Township is less than a year away, as we approach that deadline we are having our Consolidation Countdown, giving you all of the information you need to know.

While we are looking at the history of Consolidation this month we spoke with the new Managers on their thoughts on the process.

“Our people are kind of struggling with the weight of change, the weight of bearing other people’s burdens,“ explained Ben Kafferlin. “Just the fact that people in the community are a little on edge, and we feel that in city hall as well.

Since starting in November, the management team has spent a significant amount of time organizing charts, filling vacancies, going through grant applications, and dealing with the upcoming election.

While the consolidation of two communities is not very common, with the last time being around 30 years ago, the Managers see their biggest struggle with renegotiations, agreements, and ordinances that will need to be rewritten as the two communities become something new.
