WASHINGTON – The new Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee in the U.S. Congress is local Congressman Glenn “GT” Thompson.
It is the first time since the Civil War era that a Congressman from Pennsylvania holds that position.
Thompson says he is already receiving good input from farmers in his Central Pennsylvania district as the committee he now leads prepares to write a new national farm bill.
Rural healthcare, rural education, rural utilities, broadband, and crypto currencies are other issues that Thompson says are top priorities on the committee’s agenda.
