DUBOIS – Multiple people in DuBois spoke out at Wednesday’s City Council meeting, as higher costs hit household budgets.
From increasing water and sewer bills, to a rise in taxes, residents questioned what they are really paying for and why costs are going up.
Interim City Manager Lisa Hagberg says that city leaders know these increases are frustrating and says the city is taking steps to make sure bills are accurate while also paying for essential services.
“We’re trying to, like everyone else, make our payments and make sure that we’re covering all of our operational costs as well as the debt service that goes along with those utilities,” explained Hagberg. “It stinks when the bills go up.“
She went on to say if you have questions or concerns, visit the city building where staff can review your bills, explain changes, and help you work through any monetary issues.
