Clearfield woman jailed on child abuse charges

Clearfield, PA – A Clearfield woman was jailed after a child abuse investigation.

25-year-old April Eddy faces charges of felony aggravated assault, as well as endangering the welfare of children.

The initial complaint came from a witness who spoke to Lawrence Township Police in January after allegedly seeing Eddy’s 3-year-old boy with bruises and bumps on his head and welts on his back.

During an ongoing investigation, police say they found that abuse was happening in the Clearfield home.

Witness reportedly told police that Eddy would punch her children in the face, hit them with belts, and grab their throats.

Witnesses also alleged that Eddy’s boyfriend, 35-year-old Kyle Courturiaux, was abusive and that the two would often use drugs and fight.

There are currently no charges of abuse for Courturiaux, however court documents show that he did have a recent charge for harassment and disorderly conduct.

Eddy was lodged in the Clearfield County Jail. Her preliminary hearing is set for March 30.
