Henderson Township, PA – A Clearfield man is recovering from serious injuries after a head-on collision in Jefferson County last week.

Last Saturday, 22-year-old Shaun Herndon from Big Run had been driving on Route 119 in Henderson Township when he failed to see another vehicle that was stopped and waiting to turn left onto Paradise Road.

Herndon tried to avoid rear-ending the stopped vehicle by passing them in the left lane, but he struck another vehicle in the opposite lane of Route 119, driven by 37-year-old Joseph Bortz from Clearfield.

Bortz suffered serious injuries.

Herndon and a passenger in Bortz’s vehicle, 47-year-old Bonnie Poole from Clearfield, both had minor injuries.

All were taken to Punxsutawney Hospital for treatment.

All of them had been wearing their seat belts.
