COALPORT – A Clearfield County woman was killed and two other people were injured when a U-Haul van smashed into a tree Saturday morning near Coalport.
According to the Clearfield County Coroner, 53-year-old Cynthia Wissinger of Madera was pronounced dead at the scene along Route 53, in Beccaria Township. State Police say Wissinger was driving south and failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway. The van traveled into a grassy area and collided head-on into a tree.
Police say both passengers – 38-year-old Mindy Eger, of Hollidaysburg, and 50-year-old Jeffrey Meckley of Duncansville – were treated for injuries at UPMC Altoona Hospital.
