CURWENSVILLE — A federal lawsuit claiming unlawful arrest has been filed by a Curwensville woman against a State Police Trooper in Clearfield County.
Lana Thompson alleges that Trooper Austin Woolcock pulled her over in June last year, accused her of being under the influence of drugs, placed handcuffs on her, took her under arrest to Penn Highlands Clearfield for a blood test, and then to the State Police barracks. The lawsuit argues that more than eight months have passed, and no charges have been filed against Thompson for any wrongdoing.
According to the lawsuit, Woolcock violated Thompson’s Fourth and Fourteenth Amendment rights. Thompson’s attorney says that his client suffered embarrassment, harm to her reputation, and emotional distress. Thompson and her lawyer are requesting a jury trial, and that at least $150,000 in damages be awarded.
