WASHINGTON D.C. – The Mineral Basin Solar Project in Clearfield County has been awarded $90-million in federal grant funds.
U.S. Senator Bob Casey said the utility-scale solar project in Goshen and Girard Townships is expected to eventually produce enough energy to power 75,000 homes per year. Solar facilities are being built on former coal mine lands.
Casey noted that the money is coming from the U.S. Department of Energy’s Clean Energy Demonstration Program on Current and Former Mind Land Grant Program.
