Clearfield County Prison Board Hears Public Concerns

SHARE NOW

CLEARFIELD – Safety and security concerns continue to dominate the public comment portion of Clearfield County Prison Board meetings.

On Tuesday, Harold Walstrom, whose daughter overdosed and died in the county jail in July, told the board that while he has seen some “steps in the right direction,” he would like to see an investigation re-opened into his daughter’s death. Since the Walstrom family has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Clearfield County, the jail’s warden, and several correction officers, board members are unable to comment on the situation.

Also at the meeting. recently-hired Warden David Rupprecht updated the board on the jail’s new body scanner. Rupprecht reported that a total of 14 staff members are now trained to use the equipment, and it is working as effectively as it should.
