CLEARFIELD – At this week’s Clearfield County Prison Board meeting, two former inmates’ mothers complained about medical treatment at the jail.
One woman claimed that while her son was incarcerated, he started taking lithium even though he had no prior medications. She said that no one at the prison would provide her information about her son’s medical treatment in spite of her medical power of attorney.
Another former inmate’s mother explained that her daughter was forced to take medications, and was threatened with being tazed if she refused.
Clearfield County Judge Fredric Ammerman said he would review the women’s claims.
The board also reported that their search for a new warden continues. David Gallagher was fired on December 8th, and Susan McQuillen was named acting warden.
A new deputy warden has been hired, and is expected to start the day after Christmas. Krisha Oates, a former employee of the Jefferson County Jail, is the new hire for the position of deputy warden.
